They surfaced onto the local scene last year with debut single The Love You Never Took, a song that resolutely mapped out the band's musical co-ordinates. Operating in the space between guitar-driven pop and alternative rock, the song made it to the Top 10 of the Maltese radio charts, successfully bringing The Voyage's music out of their rehearsal room to the attention of Maltese music followers. The several gigs that followed underlined the fact that the band's energy was not confined to the studio, but worked just as well in a live setting.
Almost a year on, The Voyage is back with a second single, We Run, which finds the band exploring new territory. In contrast to the debut's rockier edge, their new single has a more pronounced organic tinge, its melody driven by acoustic rather than electric guitar, a hint perhaps of the band's refusal to stick to one sound. An accompanying music video for We Run was released in July 2015.
Initially formed by ex-Bitterside frontman Daniel Genuis and ex-Eve Ransom drummer Daryl Curmi, The Voyage's current formation was completed with the arrival of guitarist Ryen Refalo and vocalist/guitarist Ian Bonnici.
