DULL EYED LLAMA RETURN WITH NEW LINE-UP, NEW TUNES!

September 6, 2015

Further to their debut at this year's Rock the South festival last April, Maltese indie act Dull Eyed Llama (not to be confused with Toronto's The Dull-Eyed Llamas) are back with a new line-up and new tunes, so what better place to do it in if not a new venue. Yes indeed! The band, whose line-up now features Carl Caruana on synth, Rebecca Theuma on drums and Phobics frontman Sam Christie as the band's new guitarist and vocalist, is raring to get back onstage and perform its latest material.

Dull Eyed Llama's demos have been described, both by the band members as well as other hangers-on as “the bastard child of The Cure and Lemonheads who wishes he was born in the 80s”. Add to this the band's self-styled description that they make music with angsty undertones, sounding both hopeful and hopeless at the same time, using 80s inspired synths, guitar riffs dripping with Yuck influences, that one can dance to, and there's enough food for thought there to try and extract a more coherent evaluation. Alternately, one can always take it all with a pinch of salt, make a note of the date and pop down to the gig itself to experience what Dull Eyed Llama has to offer in the flesh.

The gig will be taking place on Friday, September 18 at the recently-opened Maori bar and chillout area, which is situated in Valletta next to the sea in Marsamxett. Entrance to the gig is free, but there's a Bandcamp-style name-your-price option attached aimed at raising funds so the band can start recording in the winter.

Doors open at 8pm and the band will go on at 9.30 pm sharp. For more information, click here.
