There may not be too many things that singer and percussionist Daniel Cauchi and pianist and composer Kris Spiteri have in common, except maybe an incredible passion for music and a serious coffee habit. And thank God for that, as these two factors contributed towards the inception of the project that is Kafena. Well, that and the fact that Spiteri had written a whole bunch of songs in the Maltese language which, from past experiences of working together, he felt would be perfect for Cauchi to sing. Those songs are now being released on Kafena's debut album, Lukanda Propaganda, which will be officially launched this coming weekend with two live performances on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28 at the Robert Samut Hall in Floriana.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Kafena on my Rockna radio show earlier this month. Click here or on the above banner to listen to the interview, which includes an exclusive preview of two of the album's tracks.
