STAR SIGNS FROM AIRPORT IMPRESSIONS

The music video for Airport Impressions’ latest single, Star Signs was launched recently with a live performance by the band at Ryan’s Pub in St. Julian’s. The single is the latest to be lifted off the band’s second album Mariette, which was released last year. One of the album’s standout tracks, the new single is a powerful song that boasts an effective upbeat country rock punch. According to frontman Errol Sammut, the band was eager to release this song as a single. “It has a special meaning to us, and is in fact inspired by the positive energy transposed through our musical journey.”

The music video for Star Signs was produced and directed by renowned Maltese director Jean-Pierre Gatt, who had also produced and directed the music video for the band’s popular hit single Walk With Me, while Malcolm Debono and Darryl John Ellul were responsible for the filming. Set in a state penitentiary back in the 70s, the video focuses on a musical connection that brings together a prison guard and three inmates, played by the band alongside other cast members.

The third single off the band’s Mariette album, Star Signs follows in the path of Hymns of June and Berlin in underlining Airport Impressions’ position as one of the top rock bands on the island. Their success is further mirrored in the several awards the band has won, among them first place in the Adult Album Alternative category of the internationally-acclaimed US Unsigned Only competition. Mariette too has received international praise from various countries, with US music website evor.com giving the album a rating of 11 out of 10 and including it in its Top 25 CD albums of 2014. Other salient reviews included that from Liverpool Sound and Vision by Ian D. Hall.
