There's one thing that upcoming Maltese artist Jasmar Cassar knows for sure, and it's that he loves singing. Despite his young age - he turns 17 next month - Cassar's been singing for more than a decade already, albeit operating mainly on the festival circuit. Further to his experiences as a young contender at the 2008 and 2010 editions of the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Cassar went on to place second at the Italian San Remo D.O.C. 2013 festival. In 2014, his song Ti Amo, I love you, co-written with Matt 'Muxu' Mercieca and Elton Zarb won the Singer/Songwriter Category of another Italian festival, Il Cantagiro.
Similar success in Malta was achieved earlier this year with the song Qalbien, performed by the group L-Ilhna of which Cassar is a part of, won the top prize in a local festival. Clearly Cassar has enough past experiences and triumphs in hand to use as a significant stepping stone on his way forward. Motivated by his passion for music and the belief and support others have shown in him, Cassar recently released a new single that is a distinct attempt to infiltrate the local pop scene and take his career to the next level.
New single Just Be, released last week, is Cassar's first official single release. A co-write with Muxu, the song is a contemporary piano ballad that should easily find its way onto the local airwaves. The single is accompanied by a video which Cassar directed himself.
