NADINE AXISA: VELVET IN CONCERT

Later this month, Nadine Axisa will be performing her Velvet album live at the Robert Samut Hall in Floriana. The album, featuring 12 original tracks, was released in 2014 and has been receiving rave reviews ever since, each one of them highlighting the singer's distinctively smooth and particularly expressive vocal delivery. The album also received a four star review on the UK's Jazz Journal, and was featured on local and international radios, the latter including virginiamusic.eu, a Dutch radio station dedicated to female jazz vocalists, Mainly jazz on Alive107.3FM and and Channel Radio in the UK and RTP Play, Portugal's official radio station.

Since the launch of the album, Axisa hasn't quite been resting on her laurels, keeping herself busy with live engagements both locally and overseas, among them appearances at A night of modern jazz (May 2014), concerts in Perugia (July 2014), the Italian Jazz Festival in Berlin (December 2014), the SONGS concert (January 2015), and the Mediterranean Literature Festival (August 2015) amongst others. Her most recent performance was in Frankfurt last December, when she was invited to perform at the European Cultural Days of the European Central Bank.

On March 11 and 12, 2016, Axisa will be performing the album Velvet in its entirety at the Robert Samut Hall in Floriana, where she will be accompanied by four excellent musicians who will bring awealth of experience to this performance.

For those who are already familiar with the album tunes, the event will be an opportunity tolisten to the tunes interpreted by different musicians, with slight but effective and engaging changes to the arrangements. For Velvet first timers, the concert will offer a night of smooth jazz tunes, fresh and relaxing melodies; an exquisite infusion of swing, latin and ballads.

Nadine Axisa will be accompanied by Joe Debono (piano), Oliver Degabriele (double bass), Joseph Camilleri (drums) and Walter Vella (saxophone and flute). These four jazzmen have studied their own discipline; they hold a track record of recording and performing with various artists both locally and internationally.

Tickets for the concerts are available from www.ticketline.com.mt.
