ROCKNA INTERVIEW: M.Y.O. BUTTERFLY PROJECT


Beginnings is the MYO Butterfly Project's debut event

With the primary aim of nurturing Malta's musical identity, the Malta Youth Orchestra (MYO) has taken the initiative to set up a new project. The new endeavour will be offically rolled out with a launch concert, MYO Butterfly Project – The Beginnings that will feature a variety music genres, all sharing a core common factor that is rooted in Maltese mjusic.

Among the several guest artists, Kafena, Nadine Axisa, Corazón Mizzi, and Joe Roscoe will be performing their own compostions, while Julie Zahra, Cinnamon War's Mike Portelli, Remy Azzopardi and Brooke Borg will be interpreting Maltese classics. All the songs have been given a new arrangment and will be performed with the MYO.

Further to the participation of the local musicians, the orchestra will be joined by none other than guitarist Luca Colombo and bassist Lorenzo Bassignani, both internationally acclaimed musicians who, apart from performing on the night, will also be giving free masterclasses to interested musicians. The concert will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on Saturday, March 26 at 8pm. Entrance is free but donations of €5 in aid of Puttinu Cares will be greatly appreciated.
