The tradition of staging music festivals in conjunction with Maltese festa celebrations has clearly picked up pace in recent years, and St. Mary’s Band Club of Ghaxaq is certainly one of the prime movers keeping this modern-day tradition alive and growing, as each festival becomes an annual fixture not only for the locals but attracting an audience from all over the island. Thanks to the dedication of a large number of volunteers as well as the overwhelming support of sponsors, this year's edition of The Ghaxaq Music Festival has been expanded into a three-day event, kicking off on Tuesday, August 5 at Ghaxaq Grounds and featuring some of the best vocal talent and bands that the country has to offer as well as some foreign guests.

The first night, hosted by DJ Clint Bajada will feature local rock band Infinite Loop performing an opening set ahead of the acclaimed Robbie Williams International Tour Show. The show's mainman JK is widely regarded as the world's top Robbie WIlliams tribute artist and has toured in 16 countries, playing to more than 2 million people to date. The Malta performance will feature a full band, backing vocals and dancers, playing a hand-picked selection of Robbie's best-known hits.

Wednesday, August 6 will feature Malta's top live act Tribali making their second appearance at this festival. A celebration of sounds, ethnic, upbeat, uplifting rhythms, Tribali's music is but one part of their broad appeal, the other being their presence and the incredible vibe they consistently create both onstage and among the audience. The band will be performing a full show enhanced with fire dancers, fireworks along with a special surprise or two. DJ Pierre Cordina will be warming up the crowd before the band.

The final night on Thursday, August 7 will be hosted by Moira Delia and Peter Carbonaro and will feature Malta's youngest and newest child stars, namely singers Gaia Cauchi and Federica Falzon. The two starlets will be joined by special guests Marco Vito and Vincenzo Carni from Italy as well as the La Voix Orchestra & Choir, directed by Mro Joseph Chircop and Gillian Attard respectively. The billing will also feature several other local artists, among them Maxine Pace, Shauna Vassallo, Davinia and Ludwig Galea.

Entrance for the Ghaxaq Music Festival is free but donations are encouraged since all proceeds will go to the Malta Cimmunity Chest Fund. A limited number of seated tickets at €15 and €10 are available for the final night only from www.ooii.com.mt while a limited number of 3-Day VIP tickets at €30 (including access to elevated area and finger food) are also available from St.Mary Band Club (Ghaxaq), J.Micallef Service Station (Rabat/Tal-Barrani), Pit Stop Service Station (Attard), La Voix Accademy (Marsa), B4 Textiles (Fgura) or by calling the ticket hotlines on 79450855, 99830082 or 99448918.
