Hot on the heels of his beaming summery single Smile, Rikki Lee recently released a brand new tune that packs a bigger punch than its predecessor. Feel Alive is a stonker of a dance tune with all the vital pop trimmings, flaunting a killer hook that has helped it nab a good chunk of local airplay. More importantly, the song has also been making inroads abroad, as was evident from the latest British Dance Charts, where the song crept in snugly into the Top Ten, sandwiched between Avicii and Calvin Harris.
Half-Maltese, half-British, Rikki Lee first came to the attention of the local pop scene as the frontman with the energetic Gypsy Genes. Earlier this year he decided to pursue a solo career, his debut single Lies reflecting an even more progressive stride towards mainstream pop than he had already demonstrated as part of a band. Follow-up single Smile consolidated his realigned pop co-ordinates, and continues to pick up significant airplay on radio stations around Europe, so much so that new remixes of the song are currently being finalised for imminent release.
Meanwhile, Feel Alive is already boosting his presence at home and abroad even further. A collaboration with upcoming Maltese DJ Mr M, the new single features David Torreggiani on guitar and looks set to soar as high as Smile if not higher. "One of my major goals in life is to write a song that everyone will know", Lee said in a comment, pointing out that Feel Alive is an end-of-summer romance track that people will hopefully relate to and remember.
