BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF THREE

ALVINGEE-ANDRE-SANDRINA.jpg

Riding high on the local radio charts, Believe is the latest release from local DJ/producer Alvin Gee. The song, which also features Skarlet vocalist Sandrina and rapper Andre, was released just weeks ago, and was quickly snapped up by Swedish record label Clubstream for international release.

The new single is not Gee’s first production, nor is it his first collaboration, and in the past he has worked with various artists including some from the local scene, such as Ira Losco, Fabrizio Faniello, Aaron Benjamin, Tribali and J Joy, as well as foreign artists such as Marcella Woods, Andrea Britton, Jan Johnston and Kirsty Hawkshaw.

A regular face on the island’s clubbing scene, Gee was discovered at the age of 15 playing dance music on a community radio, further to which he was given a residency at the popular Axis discotheque. Pretty soon, he was picked up by Fresh Music Agency and Joy Events, thanks to which he went on to play alongside some of the world’s finest deejays, among them Antoine Clamaran, Judge Jules, David Guetta, Josh Wink, Axwell, Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto.

He has also performed at various international hot spots, such as The Honeyclubb (Brighton), The Gallery, Turnmills, Pacha and Madox (London), Bora Bora and Primadonna (Tunisia) and Coco Bongo (Mexico). He was also a nominee for the Best Dance Tune award at the 2011 Bay Music Awards.

The two guests on Gee’s latest release hail from different genres. Sandrina is better known as the face and the voice of versatile rock band Skarlet, while Andre is an established rapper with a string of popular radio releases to his name, among them the single Can’t be Friends, which won the Best Song Award at the 2011 BMAs.

As Believe continues to take the local airwaves and dance floors by storm – easily qualifying as one of this summer’s top tunes – Clubstream are preparing to give it an international release, which will most definitely extend the song’s longevity beyond our shores as well as locally.
