PANDA DUB: LIVE IN MALTA

One of the top dub producers in France with a fanbase stretches way beyond his home turf, Panda Dub will be the headlining act at the latest event from Bass Culture, to be held on Saturday, July 26 at Razzett L-Ahmar in Mosta. The Panda Dub project was set up in Lyon when, as a budding artist he started to etch out his own dub style after discovering the genre through other French artists and the UK scene in particular. Blending a variety of sounds that range from electro dub to stepper and roots reggae, his music also incorporates the use of ethnic samples and is, as one might expect of dub music, punctuated by heavy rhythms.

Panda Dub’s debut release, 2007’s Born 2 Dub was essential in bringing him to the attention of an international audience, as was its follow-up, Bamboo Roots two years later. Having built up a strong reputation via the internet, he eventually teamed up with the Original Dub Gathering net label, through which he later released the Subcontraire maxi-single and the critically-acclaimed Black Bamboo EP (so far downloaded 20,000 times and counting), which further consolidated his standing as one of the most in-demand dub artists around. After the self-produced Antilogy in 2011, Panda Dub's most recent offering is last year's Psychotic Symphony, which is currently available as a free download via ODGProd.

The event, which will be enhanced with visual animations, will also feature sets from Woody Aki, Earthrocker and the Bass Culture Crew (Keith & Miguel).
