Hard Rock Cafe Malta recently announced the return of its Hard Rock Afterdark events, only this time the popular live music nights have been given a makeover and beefed up thanks to the involvement of the team that brought last September's successful Freddie For A Day concert to fruition. The international franchise, along with The Creepers' drummer Patrick Camilleri and 12th Ode vocalist Daryl Ebejer will be staging a series of themed live concerts featuring some of the best rock anthems from various eras of rock's illustrious history.

The first of these will be the 90s Rock Special, which will be held at Hard Rock Cafe in Baystreet on Saturday, January 31. The concert will feature a good number of musicians from the local rock scene, among them members of Colourblind, Forsaken, FuseBox, Purple Haze, Scar, War Trigger and of course The Creepers and 12th Ode, with appearances from Stefan 'Fofi' Farrguia, Kurt Scerri, Kersten Graham, Gianni Zammit and Lello Ebejer.

The set list will reflect various genres that gave the 1990s their rock credentials, with tracks from the likes of Nirvana, Oasis, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Alanis Morissette, Guns 'n Roses, Lenny Kravitz, Dream Theater as well as old school acts AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Bon Jovi and Aerosmith who also had big hits during the decade. A brief tribute to Steve Borg is also on the cards, during which a couple of original Purple Haze songs written by Steve and a song from one of his favourite guitarist Gary Moore will be performed. Last but not least, further to the live music, Noel Mifsud will keep the place rocking with an after-concert DJ set.

Doors open at 2200hrs. Entrance is €8 (admission 17+). For more information, click here.
