If you like your music to be rocking, this year’s edition of Rock in the Forest has a treat in store for you. The 2016 edition, the fifth to date, will offer a feast of rock hits from the past all the way to the present; a setlist that takes in anything from Coldplay and Green Day to Kiss and Queen with sounds of Aerosmith, Muse, Deep Purple, Foo Fighters and many more in between.
This year’s concert, which will be held on Friday, August 26 at Chateau Buskett, will feature guest singer Ivan Filletti and guitarist David Cassar Torregiani for the first time, alongside local favourites Gianni Zammit, ex-Cruz vocalist Marilyn Mifsud, Georgius Mifsud (from Shades of Green), and Simaria Galea, all of whom have already participated in previous editions of the event. Following last year’s surprise appearance, which was very well-received, Corkskrew will again be reconvening for the occasion, with singer Diane Micallef, bassist Cliff Smith and drummer Franco Aloisio performing some of their more poplar tracks accompanied by the event’s core band, the latter including event founder David Perotti (guitars, vocals), Kristina Perotti (drums) and Andrew Perotti, guitarists Carl Tanti and Georgius Mifsud, bassists Cliff Smith and Cheyenne Belle Xuereb (Jules Forest), keyboardist Sergio Bellizzi, and drummer Franco Aloisio.
The band Timesheets will be performing before the main act. Asked about the roots of the concert, Perotti said "This is the fifth edition of Rock in the Forest, an event which was originally held in my own garden with my kids and a few friends”. That first performance was a stepping stone, with Perotti eventually relocating to a bigger venue. “We go such great feedback that time, that we thought of organizing a proper concert. We moved to Chateau Buskett and the rest is history".
Entrance is against a donation of €7, with proceeds going to Dr Klown, the NGO that is mainly active at the Mater Dei Hospital, providing hospitalized children with positive distraction and stress relief.
Doors open at 8pm. Table bookings are available and the restaurant and bar area will be open all evening long. Parking facilities are available at Chateau Buskett. For more info, click here.
