THE CROWNS RELEASE SMOKE AND MIRRORS

New single from The Crowns

The Crowns' mark on 2016 came by way of their two radio singles, namely Mary Jane and Dreams, both of which had been written the previous year. The band is now back with a brand new single that also heralds some changes in the band's camp. To begin with the song clearly suggests that there has been some delving into new sounds and experimenting with styles. Titled Smoke and Mirrors, the song is a more groove-based number compared to past singles; its soulful melody line and instrumental breaks complementing the narrative of the lyrics. It is also the first of a number of songs that will eventually lead to the band's second album. It is also the last song to be produced by the current formation. Due to personal reasons, keyboardist Jean Paul is leaving the band, to be replaced by Sicilian guitarist Giuseppe Pecci. The move will most likely see The Crown's sound become less keyboard-driven and incorporate more guitars as Pecci has already left his mark on the new material the band has been working on in recent months.

The Crowns will be officially launching Smoke and Mirrors this evening at Ryan's Pub, St. Julians. The event will kick off with a performance from the upcoming talented band Auntie's Yellow Sofa, followed by a full-on performance by The Crowns, naturally including the the new single as well as a screening of its music video.

Entrance is free. Doors open at 8pm and there will be a Happy Hour between 20:30 - 21:30. For more details, click here.
