The 7th edition of Xirka Rock will be held on Friday, June 6 as part of the Earth Garden festival. This latest edition looks all set to be a particularly special one, primarily because it will feature a ‘best of’ representation culled from all previous six editions, but also because the organizers have also brought in a Woodstock theme especially chosen to complement the Earth Garden vibe.
Further to the usual rock shenanigans, this edition is also linked to an online talent search that was announced earlier this month. Footage of participants singing their favourite rock tunes was uploaded onto Xirka Rock’s Facebook page yesterday, and the clip with the most likes after 9 days will win the singer the chance to perform with the Xirka Rock band at the Greek Theatre in Ta’ Qali on June 6.
Xirka Rock’s first concert took place in Rabat in 2010. Since then, the event has grown in popularity and size, each edition seeing new faces come on board and needless to say, with many more still to come.
